King William's Pine

Cryptomeria japonica-'Yoshino'

King William's Pine

Native to Asia, these trees have unusual needles that are arranged along the branches in an overlapping pattern like fish scales. The branches are open. And the bark on the trunk is quite coarse. They are capable of reaching heights of 125 feet. And they grow very well in St. Tammany Parish. As with the Deodars, they are in extremely limited supply.
